John Cronin

Garrison, New York

Whether he's taking water samples from his boat Riverkeeper, or preparing to file suit against a polluter, for more than 20 years Cronin has been the Hudson River's most outspoken and effective defender. He has worked as an activist, a lobbyist, a special investigator, and a commercial fisherman. He simply uses tools within existing environmental laws to have regulations enforced. He also coordinates more than a dozen spinoff river-, sound-, and baykeeper programs around the country.
