Margit Hentschel

Ignacio, Colorado

As program manager for the Pine River Oil Recycling Program, Hentschel organized the first used-oil roundup ever held on the reservation of the Southern Ute Tribal Community. Fifty participants, from as far away as sixty miles, brought over 2000 gallons of used do-it-yourself-oil-change motor oil to be recycled. In her "spare" time, Hentschel also pursues a master's degree in natural resource management at Colorado State

"Keeping oil out of the water has a major impact on the oceans, even here in landlocked Colorado."
