JASON V: Planet Earth

A journey to the rain forest, caverns, Mayan ruins and coral reef of Belize

Updates from the jungles of Belize as the expedition took place (February 28 - March 11, 1994) were sent as time, energy and conditions permitted. These updates can be found in the Letters from the Rain Forest .

In this day and age of realtime connectivity pretty much anywhere in the world, it is hard to remember a time when such a thing was not possible. To the best of our knowledge, the JASON V expedition to Belize was the first expedition from a remote location presented live on the Internet for anyone to participate in just as it happened.
