King of the Sea

What sea mammal can dive deepest and hold its breath longest? You might guess a whale or a dolphin, but British researchers recently found out that the elephant seal is the king of the ocean. Elephant seals can dive as deep as one mile and stay under for two hours - twice as long as a whale. Researchers also discovered that elephant seals are wanderers. One seal, fitted with a radio transmitter, swam 3,300 milesin just 240 days!
