An old airplane has become an underwater laboratory for school kids in south Florida. The Spirit of Miami was sunk in 1993. It now houses more than 100 experiments designed by kids. Each experiment explores adifferent research question, from the growth of coral on different materials to the effect of seawater on airtight plastic bags.
"Someday the students involved with these experiments may become marine scientists", says Steve ONeil, chairman of the Destination Atlantis program. " We want to give them a head start."
