Well the move is over and we are hopefully at our final location. The setup is continueing and preperations for the first show are progressing. The EDS trucks have been used to send live video to various stations around the country including the BBC. One problem with being in Hawaii is the time difference from the rest of the world. The BBC shot live to London was done at 5:00 A.M. local time (9:00 A.M. Dallas time) This makes for long days., The Jason shows require us to be on site at 3 A.M. local time. The good news is that we are finished at 12:00 noon local time. This sounds good except no one eats at the same times we want to... Try and get breakfast at 3:00 A.M. and lunch at 8:00 A.M. sometime.....
The Hams that have been waiting for me to get on the air will be glad to hear that I should be operational on Sunday the 26 th. I will try and hang around 14.275 Mhz. (My call WA5TKC/KH6). I finally got into a fixed location and erect a dipole.
Pele is still reminding us that she is around. The active flow can still be seen every where around us. Today 2/24 a grass fire burned within 100 feet of the Jasonville. The tradwinds returned and the smoke was very heavy over the entire camp. The Park people managed to get it put out so no evacuation was necessary. I am going to let another member of the crew type some on the log so everyone doesn't have to put up with just my ramblings.
continuing preparations. Hi, I'm Reiner Doetzkies and I'm here on location with Mike at Jasonville. This is my sixth Jason, but the first where I'm actually on location. Today 2/24 there is a strong welcome wind blowing at us from the ocean. The last few days have been HOT.
Testing Video through the satellite from here is going good. Production is still setting up and pre-taping shots to be used in the show. There are a lot of people here running around getting things ready for the shows.
Mike again.. That's all for now and next time I will explain Pele...
