I'm writing to you from a bed and breakfast in Volcano Village, near the entrance of Hawai`i Volcanoes National Park. This is the lodging and headquarters for the JASON VI Student and Teacher Argonaut Program.
After several exciting (and very LONG) days at the expedition site in Hawai`i, we have finally managed to establish a connection to the Internet right here at the house where we are staying. We have several computers set up here so that Student and Teacher Argonauts can sit down after a long day and record their experiences and share them using electronic mail.
We've done so much in the past few days that it feels like we've been here much longer than we actually have. The Argonauts are excited about sharing their experiences and will be posting regular journal entries to the JASON Student Discussion Group. In addition to having e-mail, we are equipped with a hand-held video camera that will allow us to include some pictures with our journals for readers who have access to the World-Wide Web with a graphical browser like Mosaic . The journals with pictures are available in the "Argonauts' Corner" area of the JASON Project homepage (http:/seawifs.gsfc.nasa.gov/JASON.html).
That's it from me. A Student and a Teacher Argonaut have just completed their first journal entries, which will be posted soon.
Enjoy...
