Hello everyone, how are you doing out there? My name is Kelly Ogilvie and I am from Bowmanville, Ontario, Canada. and I am one of the student argonauts for this year's JASON Project.
Today I had a great time at biology with Rosie Gillespie for the last three broadcasts. (The first two I had off and spent them sleeping in the hut. That is what most people do, it is very tiring here because of the heat, work, etc!) biology we were looking at Hawaiian spiders. I was with a teacher, Teri Dannenberg from Texas, and we were focusing a "Spider Cam" on the spiders that we collected. (The argonauts went spider hunting a few days before!) It was really a challenge because they kept moving around ! Rosie was talking about the diversity of the spiders on the Hawaiian islands which was really interesting! Also today is my birthday and Bob Ballard and Rosie wished me a happy one during the broadcast!! That was really nice!
When all of the broadcast were over, most of the argonauts had interviews for local TV/radio stations. I had an interview with Canada AM which is a show in Canada like "Good Morning , America!" It will be aired tomorrow so I hope lots of Canadians are watching!
After the interview we went to visit the Thurston lava tube. It is this huge lava tube that is empty and a trail has been built right through it! It was incredible to think that lava was flowing through there at one time. All around the outside were beautiful Hawaiian flowers and vegetation that was really pretty!
Right now we are on a bit of free time before dinner and which is at a Golf Country Club. After dinner it appears we are going spider hunting and I hope we take a few more vials with us this time because last time we were short!!
Hope you had or will have a great time at your PINS site watching the broadcast. Aloha from Hawaii!!
