Production Journal: Dec. 2, 1994
I am hard at work on the script. Since the approval by the PINS of all
the basic plans, we are in full-speed-ahead mode. One profound decision
that was made in the Boston meeting in November was that the side
screen (at least one and possibly both) will be controlled by
Production from Hawaii, and will be supplied via a laser videodisc
player at each site. The side screen images will be drawn from video
already shot, graphics now under way, and graphics we may yet define,
plus footage we may aquire. What is profound about the decision is that
Production will now need to program the disc for continuous operation
throughout the program hour. It can never be dark. We had already
planned for several sequences that would use all the screens in a
coordinated fashion; now we must plan the entire program that way.
