Dr Ken Kaneshiro


Dr. Ken Kaneshiro received his Masters and Ph.D. in Entomology from the University of Hawaii. As a host researcher he will be sharing his work on Drosophila flies with students by taking observations of the courtship behavior of the flies to determine which family they belong to.

Each family has a different set of motions. Dr. Kaneshiro believes that there are some 1000 different species of flies in this family. To date he has identified 511 members. Dr. Kaneshiro's particular interest is in the area of evolutionary biology and there is a theory of evolutionary biology named for him.
