Jon Howland
Host Researcher, Imaging and Mapping
Jonathan Howland received a B.S. degree in Surveying Engineering from the University of Maine in 1980, and an M.S. in Computer Science from the Johns Hophins University in 1985. He has specialized in imaging and mapping sciences in his career, which has taken him from the deserts of Saudi Arabia to numerous deep-ocean oceanographic expeditions. Jon also participated in JASON expeditions to Lake Ontario in
1990 and Baja in 1993.
Jon is currently a Research Engineer at the Woods Hole Oceanographic Institution, where he is responsible for data collection and processing for the
Deep Submergence Laboratory's family of unmanned vehicles.
