JASON VII: Adapting to a Changing Sea

Click on images above to learn about some of the research elements and tools for JASON VII

JASON VII will investigate living at the edge of the sea, where we will explore conditions for life including human existence now and in the future. The edge of the sea provides habitats and food for the majority of the world's population in addition to the many aquatic organisms which live there. It also plays a role in many global cycles including climate change. During JASON VII researchers, students and teachers will join Dr. Robert Ballard to investigate several interconnected shallow water habitats in Southern Florida - the Everglades, Florida Bay, Florida Keys and relic reefs and the stresses placed upon them. One of the roles of the research team is to study the marine habitats, making predictions and suggestions for the future with an ever increasing human population.
